Our packaging solutions

Aseptic packaging

Our ambition is to ensure an easy and reliable aseptic filling process for dairy and liquid food producers. Risks are controlled or avoided by forming a contamination-free chain from food treatment and the filling equipment to the package.

Our e-beam packaging sterilisation solution ensures that food contact surfaces are never exposed to any chemicals. Sterilisation is also separated from the filling machines, which allows it to be carefully managed under controlled conditions at our own plants.

Liquid food

Aseptic packaging is designed to protect liquid food from the production phase all the way to the consumer, while maintaining taste and texture. Ambient packaging also has a lower life-cycle environmental impact as no energy is needed to keep the product cool during distribution.

Packaging material

Even though our packaging is light and thin, it has a multilayer structure that protects its contents. As they contain no aluminium, Ecolean packages can be safely heated in the microwave when opened.

Package Sterilisation

Ecolean packages are hermetically sealed and sterilised using e-beam treatment at the Ecolean manufacturing plant, which reduces complexity for the customer. The ready-to-fill packages are distributed on reels that can be transported and stored without special temperature and humidity control.

The filling machine

Ecolean filling machines have a small footprint and offer high efficiency compared with conventional filling machines. Ecolean filling lines follow our philosophy of keeping it simple and providing reliable and lean operations.

Automated operation

The filling machine sterilisation process is fully automated and recorded. During operation, all chamber openings are closed and the chambers are filled with peroxide gas. After sterilisation, a catalytic converter removes any remaining peroxide gas. The aseptic valve cluster, filling system and the Cleaning In Place (CIP) connectors are all sterilised with steam.

Preventing Recontamination

As there is always a risk of the packaging material being contaminated during distribution, the material is fed through a sterilisation chamber before it enters the filling chamber to remove any microorganisms. An air system protects the filling chamber by creating a constant flow of sterile filtered air from the chamber entrance and exit.

Package Integrity

Package integrity is a crucial and integral part of any aseptic packaging system. Our monitoring systems for strength and integrity are an integral part of the production of ready-to-fill packages.
