Our Sustainability Roadmap 2030
Ecolean's mission is to provide safe, convenient packaging solutions for liquid food with minimal environmental impact, always guided by a life cycle approach.
In 2021, we established our Sustainability Roadmap 2030, the foundation of our journey to becoming a more sustainable business. This roadmap centres around a set of actionable goals aligned with the UN Global Compact, the Paris Agreement, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Our targets for 2030 focus on three key areas: Taking climate action, Towards a circular business, and Fair, Equal and Inclusive.
Taking climate action
We have set science-based targets that are aligned with the Paris Agreement. By 2030, we aim to:
- Reduce our scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50%, and measure and reduce our scope 3 emissions, with 2018 as a base year.
- Continue to source 100% renewable electricity for our production.
- Transport 100% of our products by sea or land.
Towards a circular business
Becoming part of the circular economy is central to our transition. Our 2030 targets are to:
- Source 10% renewable or recycled polymers for our packages.
- Maximise the recycling of waste even when scaling up production.
- Ensure all our packages comply with EU directive ‘Designed for recycling guidelines’.
- Support and establish partnerships to develop recycling infrastructure in all our markets.
Fair, equal and inclusive
Our targets also relate to the people in our company and throughout our supply chain and are guided by our Code of Conduct and the principles of the UN Global Compact. Our 2030 targets are to:
- Achieve a 50/50 gender balance.
- Ensure 5% of our employees are part of work rotation programmes.
- Provide every employee with an average of one-week training per year.
- Achieve zero injuries and work-related illnesses.
- Zero corruption and zero breaches of human rights.
Our Sustainability Roadmap 2030 targets set high ambitions going forward. We also constantly work to improve the quality of our packaging solutions to maintain zero liability claims and provide transparent information.
